Snowboarding forums are great places to 'hang out' online, whether you are a new rider, or been around the powder for a long time. There's lots of them, and once you really get into forums, you'll find them hard to leave!
1. You'll 'meet' other boarders from around the world! How cool is that? There's nothing quite like participating in a 'community' of like-minded souls to make you feel like you're a 'part of' something.

Snowboarding clothes include the basic boots and bindings, of course, but there's been lots written about them elsewhere, so I'm going to talk about other snowboarding clothes here.
1. Socks -- happy feet make happy riders, so be good to your feet, and they'll reward you with many long hours of boarding nirvana, I can guarantee it! Let's face it -- your feet are your most used asset, so socks are going to take a beating! Pick socks that are sure to be comfortable,

Having snowboarding accessories is almost as important as having a snowboard! There's the obvious ones, like boots and bindings, but there are other snowboarding accessories you really don't want to be without:
1. The #1 snowboarding accessories on your list should be for the purpose of sun protection. Sunscreen itself is vital for your skin when it's facing wind, sun and glare from the snow every time you strap on a board. Check your local pharmacy for sunscreen that's made especially for snowboarders, and you won't go wrong.
Choosing the right snowboard bag is one of the most important decisions you'll make when you set out to be a boarder. It doesn't seem like a snowboard bag would be that big a deal, but after all, it may put on a LOT of miles with you over the years, so you want your snowboard bag to be a good one!
Snow board accessories can't be overlooked when you're shopping to go snowboarding, or when you're doing a pre-season 'inventory.'
1. Boots -- after your snow board, your boots the most important item of the snow board accessories you'll need, and the very first thing you'll need to purchase. You need to find boots that fit your foot, your style and your skill level -- and it's always nice if they have a coolness factor, too. :) Since you can't ever try them out on the hill first, it's best to buy your boots in a professional shop where the staff can best analyze your needs.

If you snowboard, I can bet that the minute the snow starts falling, you can hardly WAIT to get out on the slopes with your snowboard!
I know this impatience VERY well, but I also know how that impatience can land you in a heap of trouble if you don't look after the details! It's really important that you take your time to do a few things first -- before you ever step into your board.

Wearing a snowboard helmet is a very smart thing to do, in my opinion. Don't you want to live a long time so you can snowboard more? I sure do, so I always wear a snowboard helmet!
Snowboard helmets are becoming more popular with all riders, and as a result, manufacturers are working hard to bring us all a snowboard helmet that is functional and inexpensive, yet stylish.

There are several kinds of snow boards, and which snow boards are for you is dependant on a whole lot of things. Some things you don't have a whole lot of immediate choice about, like your weight, height and foot size.
But more importantly, your particular interests and riding style will determine what kind of snow board you'll use.

Snowboarding history isn't really very historical, because snowboarding is a relatively 'new' pastime, even though people have probably been figuring out how to slide down hills for fun for a very long time.
Of course, snowboarding history has grown out of what folks knew about surfing, skateboarding and skiing -- and has borrowed components from all of them along the way.
Snowboarding is, of course, primarily a physical activity -- not too many riders would deny that. But snowboarding is also a mental exercise -- or at least, it should be.
In fact, if snowboarders spent as much time developing the mental side of the sport of snowboarding as they do the physical, we'd probably ALL be much better riders!
Snowboard goggles come in all shapes, sizes, colors and styles -- because manufacturers know that every rider is different and unique, but we ALL -- unless we're some kind of stupid -- need to put them on right after we don our boots, bindings and boards!
What good are snowboard goggles, you ask? Well, there are four really good reasons why every rider should have at least two pairs of them! (One to wear, and an extra pair in case the first pair gets lost, left behind or stolen, of course).

The list of snowboard equipment that you need is actually pretty basic, and then there are some accessories that are fairly critical, as well.
Choosing the RIGHT snowboard equipment ISN'T necessarily basic, though -- there is a lot of competition out there, and wading through the minefield of what you need and what you don't need isn't always easy.
