6 Tips for Snowboarding Sanely
Tips for snowboarding - no matter what the conditions are
There are literally hundreds of tips for snowboarding safely and sanely, and have fun while you're at it. I'm just going to outline what I think are the most important tips for snowboarding, that will 'cover all the bases,' and have you out there, stoked for riding, every chance you get!
Snowboarding Tips For You
1. No tips for snowboarding would be complete unless safety is the number one priority. Even though we're all about having fun, preventing injury should be one of the most important ways to do that! Make sure you're wearing comfortable gear and clothing, and don't ride when you're tired.
2. One of the most important tips for snowboarding I've ever heard was told to me early in my boarding days -- don't try to 'over-ride' the terrain, the conditions, or your skills. We're ALL anxious to do better every time we strap on a snowboard, but ... 'easy does it' should be the operative phrase here. We've got lots of time to increase our skills!
3. Speaking of increasing our skills, learning more and better techniques all the time is one of the best tips for snowboarding that I know of. Improving your performance means getting more out of your snowboarding experiences, AND having more fun!
4. I know how to party-hearty with the best of them -- but I've learned that being hung over or drug-dazed doesn't make for fun on the slopes. Any list of tips for snowboarding would be remiss if it didn't include a suggestion to leave the drugs and booze behind when you go snowboarding. It's not worth the risks!
5. Finally, one of the best tips for snowboarding I've ever heard has to do with mental and emotional conditioning and preparedness. If you're 'stuck' mentally, or you've lost confidence because of a recent tumble or something, your attitude will definitely effect your experience -- and could even be disastrous. Learn to 'let go' of negative experiences, lighten up and know that you're GOOD ENOUGH to go have fun on the slopes!
