Learn How to Snowboard This Year
The 4 best ways to learn how to snowboard
Want to learn how to snowboard this year? That's great -- there's still lots of room out there for more of us!
There are several ways you can learn how to snowboard. From the least effective and desirable to the most, here they are:
1. Just get out there and try it.
Rent your equipment, and when the store is fitting you out, they'll show you the basic stance and moves, and then -- away you go. Learn how to snowboard on a few small slopes, and watch the boarders around you for tips on technique. 'Going it alone' is NOT the best way to learn how to snowboard, but if it's your only option, don't be stopped!
2. Rent 'how to snowboard' videos.
Do a Google search and you'll find that there are lots of good beginner training videos available, and some of us learn simply by watching them repeatedly and THEN trying out the maneuvers later.
3. Get friends, family, co-workers
-- in short, anyone you know who is already a rider -- to show you. Anyone who is a boarder can teach you the how to snowboard basics, of course, and then it's just a matter of practice, practice, practice until you get good at it. Learning from friends does have one drawback, though - you'll also pick up THEIR bad habits, and then have to 'un-learn' them. Not good. :)
4. So the best way to learn how to snowboard...
is to sign up for personal lessons. If you're lucky enough to live in an urban area, or near a hill, you will likely have the choice of individual tutoring or group classes -- or both. :) Sign up for whatever's available to you, is my advice!
Don't let anything (but budget) stop you from going after your goal of learning how to snowboard.
