Is Competitive Snowboarding for You?
How to know if you're ready for competitive snowboarding
You've dreamed about competitive snowboarding ever since you first strapped on a board, you've worked hard to get good at freestyle, you've moved your physical conditioning up a notch ... and you think you're ready now for some serious competitive snowboarding.
But how do you know if it's for you, and how do you know if you're really ready for competitive snowboarding?
Here's how you can test yourself:
1. Have you absolutely mastered all of the beginning snowboarding techniques? This is an essential pre-requisite! In fact, you should have mastered most of the intermediate level techniques, tips and tricks, too.
2. HAVE you seriously dreamed of competitive snowboarding for a long time? Are you a competitive sort in other sports? If so, there's a good chance you've got the 'bug,' and would be really good at competitive snowboarding.
3. Have you had rave reviews about your snowboarding performance from anyone other than your mom and your best bud? If your snowboarding pals all suggest that you could compete - well, if one friend says it, you've got a good friend. If two folks you know think you'd be good at competitive snowboarding, they might be onto something. If three folks think so, you should definitely go after it!
4. Are you an adventurous spirit -- and a bit of a maverick? It takes that kind of personality to be involved in competitive snowboarding! Oh, and you might want to be independently wealthy, too - because you'll spend a lot of time going to competitive snowboarding events. But you won't get paid much.
Competitive snowboarding is not for everyone who takes up the sport -- but if it IS for YOU, go for it, and have a blast!
