Should You Consider Cheap Snowboards?

Cheap Snowboards: Dos and Don'ts

Cheap snowboards don't necessarily have to mean 'bad quality.' In fact, there's so much competition among snowboard manufacturers now that finding cheap snowboards isn't that hard -- and you DON'T have to sacrifice quality materials, workmanship or performance ability if you buy them.

DO

do your research before you make a final decision. Learn whatever you can about snowboard construction materials and techniques so that you'll know what to look for when you're looking at cheap snowboards.

DON'T

just buy the first bargain that comes along - it might simply be a matter of 'you'll get what you pay for...' and that may not be a good thing.

DO

ask among friends who are snowboarders. There's no better recommendation than one that comes from someone who's already owned cheap snowboards, and knows what's good (and bad!) about them.

DON'T

look for cheap snowboards in the expert category, or even in intermediate -- the better you are at snowboarding, the lighter your board needs to be, and light snowboards are not cheap snowboards. I have no idea why that would be (since they use less material!) but it's true. So cheap snowboards are really only an option for beginning boarders. Besides, a lot of the reason why more advanced snowboards are more expensive is because they often have more features - and those are features you won't necessarily care about as a beginner.

DO

shop around, including checking online for cheap snowboards. Make sure you comparison shop among snowboard brands and types for the best possible deal.

DON'T

let shopping for cheap snowboards get you down! There's bound to be the perfect board for you somewhere, you just need to find it!

DO

find a way to buy a snowboard, even if you can't find one among cheap snowboards. There's no point spending all your energy on seeking out cheap snowboards when you could just be out there riding something!
