Snowboard Goggles: Not Just for Looking Cool

The four best reasons for wearing snowboard goggles

Snowboard goggles come in all shapes, sizes, colors and styles -- because manufacturers know that every rider is different and unique, but we ALL -- unless we're some kind of stupid -- need to put them on right after we don our boots, bindings and boards!

What good are snowboard goggles, you ask? Well, there are four really good reasons why every rider should have at least two pairs of them! (One to wear, and an extra pair in case the first pair gets lost, left behind or stolen, of course).

Why Wear Snowboard Goggles?

1. The single most important factor in the decision to wear snowboard goggles has to do with protection from the sun. Yes, it's winter, and yes, we spend a lot of time in cold places -- but those cold places are often beautifully illuminated by sunshine ... and sunshine isn't real healthy these days, in big doses.

Snowboard goggles have various degrees of UV protection (that's what will stop the harmful rays of the sun from damaging your skin) built right in to the lenses, so they act as a sunscreen for your eyes and the area around them.

2. Another good reason to wear snowboard goggles is that they will cut down on the glare from the sun as it hits that great powder that's giving you such a positive experience! The experience could be severely diminished in a hurry if you are temporarily blinded by snow glare.

Snow glare can cause disorientation, headaches -- and I've even heard of riders becoming lost because they couldn't see properly. Don't take a chance on that happening to you -- wear your snowboard goggles on the slopes.

3. Snowboard goggles keep a LOT of flying snow off your face, too, especially if there's a wind blowing it right at you when you're en route downhill. Protection from the wind -- and from cold, wet snow -- will make your ride MUCH happier!

4. Finally, all of the above can tire you out, so snowboard goggles will cut down on fatigue when you are snowboarding -- which will give you more energy to be stoked for RIDING -- and that's a GLORIOUS thing! :)
