Snowboards: Not Just for Adults
Snowboards are suitable for all ages
Snowboards are probably one of the hottest commodities for all ages of 'outdoor-sy' types these days. From 6-year-olds to 76-year-olds, the enthusiasm for snowboards runs the gamut!
Kids can first strap on snowboards between the ages of 5 and 7. It's great to put kids on snowboards as early as possible -- but not so great if they don't have some basic coordination and control going on yet. At least kids on snowboards don't have far to fall, and are generally much more flexible than most adults!
Older kids are strapping on snowboards in droves these days, many for the first time. Adolescents in particular are 'crossing over' from skateboarding -- after all, what do skateboarders do in the winter? Snowboards are the ideal alternative!
Teens, of course, are taking to snowboards like never before - in fact, many teens who may have started off on skis are now switching to snowboards, and loving it!
Adult men and women have been a little slower to don snowboards and hit the slopes, but they're starting to now. Maybe watching their kids, adolescents and teenagers snowboarding was enough to convince them how fun it could be!
Finally, I know of LOTS of 'seniors' who are stepping in to snowboards now, some for the very first time -- lots of snowboards on any hill these days are occupied by 'past-childbearing-years' senior adults who are not too old to learn the basics, and have a blast!
In fact, you're never too old for snowboards. I just read something about a 76-year-old grandfather who wanted to try a new sport this year, and was out at the mall checking out the snowboards!
