What Snowboarding Gear Will You Need - and Want?
A basic snowboarding gear wish list
Making a list of snowboarding gear is pretty easy for most of us -- there are the basics, and then there are the accessories or 'extras' that we can all make use of, and love to have!
Top on the list of snowboarding gear is your snowboard, of course. And if you really want to have a 'wish list' of snowboarding gear, you wouldn't be the first to yearn for more than one snowboard, either! ;)
Next to your snowboard, the next most important item on the snowboarding gear list is your boots -- and if you have more than one snowboard, you may very well need more than one pair of boots, since the boots are always particular to the board. No harm in dreaming, right?
Now, some folks might consider the following snowboarding gear items to be 'extras,' but I don't think so ....
1. Gloves. And you definitely need more than one pair of these! One run, and your gloves could be soaked, so you'll need a nice, dry pair for the next run.
2. Goggles. A list of basic snowboarding gear is not complete, in my opinion, without at least one pair of goggles. These are NOT 'extras' -- the right pair of goggles in the 'wrong' conditions could save your life! (Oh, and don't forget the sunscreen!)
3. Helmet. Again, a snowboard helmet might technically be a snowboarding gear 'accessory,' but I personally wouldn't EVER hit the slopes without one. I intend to live long and ride lots, so why take any chances?
Okay, that's probably it for the 'basic' snowboarding gear, in my opinion, but then there ARE extras that are really nice to have:
1. Proper attire -- having a couple of decent pairs of snowboarding pants and a couple of good jackets on your wish list is not unreasonable. Remember, you could be cold and wet in just one run...
2. Music! Being able to tuck your iPod or MP3 player into a pocket and having just the right sounds in your ear while your carving down the slopes is a fabulous feeling!
3. No list of snowboarding gear would be complete without mentioning LIFT TICKETS, now would it? After all, this IS wish list of snowboarding gear!
